Vegan Steak Burger

 Here’s a recipe for a Vegan Steak Burger using Impossible Burger patties with shaved plant-based steak on top for extra flavor and texture.


Ingredients:


For the Burger:


1 package of Impossible Burger patties (usually 12 oz)


1-2 cups shaved plant-based steak (like Oumph! or The Very Good Butchers plant-based steak, or use seitan if preferred)


4 vegan burger buns (dairy-free and egg-free)


1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)


1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari (for the plant steak)


1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for extra flavor)


Lettuce (arugula or romaine works well)


Sliced tomato


Red onion slices (optional)


Pickles (optional)



For the Burger Sauce:


1/4 cup vegan mayo


1 tablespoon ketchup


1 tablespoon Dijon mustard


1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)


1/2 teaspoon lemon juice



Instructions:


1. Prepare the Impossible Burger Patties:


Take the Impossible Burger patties out of the package. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper (or any additional spices you like).


Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side until they’re golden and cooked through. If you want to add vegan cheese, place a slice on the patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.




2. Cook the Shaved Plant-Based Steak:


In a separate pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.


Add the shaved plant-based steak and sauté for 3-4 minutes until crispy and browned. Add a splash of soy sauce and smoked paprika (if using) to season and stir for another minute. The goal is to get a nice sear on the steak for texture.




3. Make the Burger Sauce:


In a small bowl, mix together the vegan mayo, ketchup, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, and lemon juice. Stir well until smooth and creamy.




4. Toast the Buns:


Slice the vegan burger buns and toast them lightly in a skillet or under a broiler until golden brown. This will add a nice texture and prevent the bun from getting soggy.




5. Assemble the Vegan Steak Burger:


Spread the burger sauce generously on the bottom and top buns.


Place the Impossible patty on the bottom bun.


Pile on the shaved plant-based steak on top of the patty, followed by lettuce, sliced tomato, red onion slices, and pickles if desired.




6. Serve and Enjoy:


Top with the other half of the bun, slice the burger if you like, and serve with your favorite side like crispy fries or a side salad.
